The Cook County 2012 Budget: How Did We Get Here?

Cook County faces a 2012 budget shortfall of $315.2 million in the General Fund. Revenues are anticipated to decline $317.7 million while expenditures are expected to only see a $2.5 million natural decrease.  To balance the budget, tough choices must be made.
