Need help finding volunteer opportunities?
One Good Deed Chicago is a city initiative that assists prospective volunteers in locating opportunities on the basis of unique interests and skill sets. It also supports non-profits in achieving specified goals and challenges by providing them with a volunteer base to carry out their mission. With a particular focus on youth violence and economic recession—two of the biggest challenges Chicagoans face today—One Good Deed Chicago uses its two volunteer service initiatives, WINDY and Money Smarts, to combat these issues and empower individuals.
One Good Deed Chicago is a product of the Cities of Service coalition founded in 2009 by mayors across the nation who responded to a call to action by “finding new and innovative ways to harness the power of volunteers.” Mayors and their cities who join the coalition work to engage citizens through impact volunteering by identifying strategies that focus on community needs and developing practices that will produce measurable results.
